Wind in my sails I don’t want to go back
I’ve got momentum in my system and I’m getting on track
I found a little ray of light to keep the shadows at bay
But it be tugging at me daily trying to take me away
I don’t want to feel this way but desire ain’t enough
I have to recondition all the bullshit given growing up
You really think that’s your decision no it isn’t out of luck
Because they’re really fucking good and making sure that you are fucked
Your ego’s been manipulated yeah go live it up
You think you’re purchasing that product cause you need it’s a want
Nobody needs the shit you own that you’ve collected in a dump
And yet you’re stuck in your beliefs in that’s exactly what they want
Mass consumption, masked as celebration
Your identity is wrapped up in an image they’ve created
Designed for your enslavement, made for their control
It’s a game where if you win you are relinquishing your soul
Make a purchase little piggy, your happiness depends
On the garbage you consume, look at all your friends
Nobody is a immune, everyone pretends
Like what they’re doing is the norm a victim of unconsciousness
In a typical day
You think you’re doing what you want but it’s based on their ways
They had you long before you woke up, up in your dreams
Created fantasies are based on what you want and not need
And there ain’t much that you can do because it’s part of the culture
You try to speak out and end up sacrificed at the alter
You can try to break away but I doubt your survival
It is a group mentality there ain’t no cure for this virus
I know you think you’re independent, that’s part of the deal
Yet you express yourself thru purchases and how you will feel
They’ve connected your emotions your a puppet on strings
Your happiness has been embedded in material things
