01. Contradictions:
•The genealogies of Jesus: Matthew 1:2-17 vs. Luke 3:23-38.
•The prophet’s name: Matthew 1:23 vs. Matthew 1:25, Luke 1:31.
Footnote: Matthew is referring to the prophecy in Isaiah 7:14, however in context this is clearly meant for king Ahaz. And the prophecy was fulfilled in 2 Kings 16:9.
•Punishment for adultery: Leviticus 20:10 vs. John 8:11.
•How one can enter heaven: John 3:5: “Jesus answered, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.’” vs. Mark 16:16: “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved…” vs. John 14:6: “Jesus said to him, ‘…No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
Footnote: Although not a contradiction, it is rather odd that such a significant event as the Virgin Birth was mentioned only in Matthew and Luke.
